Executive Chairman

Steve Ells founded Chipotle in 1993 and serves as the company’s Executive Chairman. Prior to launching Chipotle, Steve worked for two years at Stars restaurant in San Francisco. Steve’s vision – that food served fast doesn’t have to be low quality and that delicious food doesn’t have to be expensive – is the foundation on which Chipotle is based. This visionary thinking has led to Chipotle accomplishing great things, from growing from a single restaurant to over 1,100 in just 18 years, to serving more naturally-raised meat than any other restaurant company. This thinking has also resulted in Steve remaining a principal driving force behind making Chipotle innovative and striving for constant improvement.

Mike McGawn

Mike McGawn is corporate counsel at Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc., where he handles SEC reporting and compliance, corporate governance, and international and general corporate matters. He joined the company shortly after its IPO in 2006, and led the legal team representing the company in connection with its split-off from its former parent, McDonald’s Corporation, which was completed in October 2006. Prior to joining Chipotle, Mike practiced in the corporate group at Faegre & Benson LLP, where he focused on securities offerings and public company regulation. Mike has a JD from the University of Colorado and a BA from Northwestern University.

Chris Arnold joined Chipotle as Director of Public Relations in 2003. In his current capacity as Director of Communications, Chris oversees the company's media and government relations, social media, customer service and internal communications functions. Prior to joining Chipotle, he served as Vice President of Linhart McClain Finlon Public Relations, one of the largest independent public relations agencies in the Rocky Mountain Region. He has more than 15 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications and marketing communications working with companies and organizations in a variety of industries. He holds a BA and MBA from the University of Denver.
